2017 Racing Update

Project Motorcycles, Race Prep and General Repairs

Our family has a rich history in motorsport that dates back to the 1940's

Our grandfather, Boet Fereira was the South African Motorcycle Champion in 1950, 51, 52, 53 and 1960. A small display of his trophies and achievements can be found at the Denysville Motorcycle Museum.

Our father, Arthur Bruins was the South African Speedway Champion for 5 years. Sadly, he passed away on 23/03/2014. At age 67 still rode motorcycles and he passed on doing what he loved. Two years ago he participated in the Cape 2 Cairo event where he was technical support and rode a GS1200 from Cape Town to Cairo and back in 39 days. Arch was a Dad in a million and he will be missed tremendously by us all.
Our Uncle Cliffy, raced motorcycles from the 1970's and he still threws his leg over an iron pony whenever he could. He  competed in just about every South African Championship across a wide range of categories. He was renowned for undercutting motorcycle gears and many championship contenders would send their gears to him from around the world.
He unfortunatly had a serious accident on 08 July 2017 and subsequantly passed away on 09 July 2017. He will be missed by many and this world lost an awesome character.
Russel raced 125cc Grand Prix motorcycles in 1986 and 87. He then raced 250cc Grand Prix motorcycles from 1988 to 1992. He still rides when the opportunity comes around. In 2012, 2015 and 2016 he was a rider in the RCR Motorcycles Team that ran a 200cc Chinese motorcycle in the annual 8 Hour event held every year at the Killarney Karting Circuit. On 08 April 2017 he swung his leg over a superbike racing motorcycle and competed in the Brakfast Run class.
Clive Wright has been involved in motorcycle racing for many years. In 2004 he won the 400cc Powersport Title. He has competed in offroad enduro racing and Speedway. He currently relaxes by taking his racing bikes round a local track. Most recently, he rode in the Itcan Racing 8 Hour Team that successfully completed the RST International 8 Hour held annually at the Killarney Karting Circuit. You will find him at Dot Engineering Field Services.
Giovanni Nunes, nephew of the gang, won the 2013 and 2015 South African Speedway Championship. He learned the ropes from his grandfather, Arthur Bruins, and does us proud, although he only rides bikes where he can keep his feet on the ground - LOL.
Dylan Wright, Russel's son, started his racing career late but has achieved much. He got his first win in 2013 at Redstar Raceway and has since then started hunting trophy's. In 2016 he competed in the WPMC Clubmans Championship and finished 8th Overall despite missing the last 4 races due to a serious accident. He was 3rd in the championship before the accident. He currently competes in the Western Province Regional 600cc Superbike Championship. Take a few minutes to view his 2013 promo video at Dylan's Promo Video
